These promos are different from your garden variety promos, because they're mono versions of an album that was released only in stereo to the general public. There's almost always a sticker that proclaims "DJ Mono Mix." Today with the resurgence of "mono love", these albums are quite collectible. There are many more than are shown here; Atlantic in particular seems to have released these mono promos for most of their albums for a year or two.

In the late 1960s, the labels had pretty much transitioned over to stereo only releases. However, they found that some AM radio stations still preferred broadcasting in mono, and some stereo records would sound wonky because at times a channel would "drop out" when played on the mono format. So, the labels took some of their releases and made separate mono mixes just for the DJs to play.
